Cronin, Hagenbaok, Sager, Boose, Cogswell, Whalen, Sokol, Quinn, Bower, Brophy,
Gilliam, Stephan, Pace, Killer, .Anderson, and Esser, each carrying 1 x 1000 lb.
bomb (,1 and ,025 fuses), together with formations from the 27th and 71st Fighter
Squadrons, took off at 0910 hours to dive bomb gun emplacement position #3 on
PArrrET.TF.RTA. Formation flew due east to target at 6,500 feet and dived to 4,000
feet before dropping their bombs. Direct hits were scored on target but extent
of damage could not be seen because of dust and dirt and the shelling of the
Island r.y 14 heavy cruisers and destroyers. Flak: light, not intense but accurate.
Fo enemy aircraft'seen, Weather: to and .ver target, Cr-VU. Time over target 1128
hours. Lt. Bower returned :.r : srje, 2 dine at 1220 hours, Lt. Quinn landed
at Enfideville at 1225 hoars to refuel, , pk off at 1320 hours and landed hero
' at'1440 hours. It. Cronin is missing, 10 oombs are known to have been dropped.
